Elevision

Wow! I just caught a neat story on ABC News (Channel 5, Boston) about a documentary coming on on BBC later this month. Filmmakers used elephants as their cameramen, teaching them to move cameras disguised as tree stumps. The cameras were attached to their tusks, or some had branch handles that the elephants could pick up with using their trunks. But the most amazing thing is that the elephants actually learned to carry these cameras and seemed to target their subjects, in this case a family of Tigers on which the documentary was going to be based. I am not a scientist, and I don't know how much of the story is coincidence, but it is very cool, regardless.

You can read more about the story here at an Australia news site. ABC news hasn't posted their story on the web yet. More information about the documentary is available here.
